SAT-18EXC Palm OTDR

Palm OTDR is a compact, portable test instrument purpose‑built for short‑to‑medium distance fiber testing, striking an ideal balance between performance and portability:

Applicable Scenarios

Access Network (FTTx/FTTH)

• Covers 10 30km links from OLT to subscriber, including splitters and drop cables.

• Tasks: Link verification, splitter loss testing, drop fiber break location, quality spot checks.

II. Metro Network (Short to Medium Span)

• Quick health checks on 10 20km ring or mesh spans.

• Tasks: Base station fiber inspection, loss re measurement, pre /post cutover comparison.

III. Data Center & Equipment Room

• Tests short distance internal links (hundreds of meters to a few kilometers).

• Tasks: Patch cord/pigtail quality check, MPO link event detection, rapid relocation verification.

IV. Field Deployments & Emergency Restoration

• Portable, quick response testing for military and disaster recovery comms.

• Tasks: Link continuity check, outdoor break location, temporary route validation.

V. Industry Specific Networks (Power, Railway, Metro)

• For OPGW/ADSS, railway/metro wayside fibers (10 30km spans) in tower or tunnel environments.

• Tasks: Splice inspection, tunnel troubleshooting, routine periodic inspection.

VI. Pre Construction Survey & Preliminary Acceptance

• Rapid screening of cable segments before formal certification.

• Tasks: Cable length/loss spot check, laid segment quality screening, splice validation before closure

Features

1. Compact & Lightweight, One‑Hand Operation

  • Palm‑sized design (typically comparable to a smartphone), weighing approximately 300‑500g including battery, enabling true one‑hand operation. Ideal for tower climbing, manhole work, and cramped equipment rooms — significantly reducing carrying burden and improving operational convenience.

2. 24dB Dynamic Range Covers Mainstream Short‑to‑Medium Distances

  • 24dB dynamic range is sufficient to test 10‑40km of single‑mode fiber (depending on link loss coefficient), clearly identifying splices, connectors, bends, and fiber breaks within that range, meeting the vast majority of access network and metro‑edge testing requirements.

3. Extremely Simple Operation, Quick to Master

  • One‑button auto‑test with built‑in intelligent event diagnosis automatically identifies event types (breaks, high‑loss splices, macro‑bends, etc.) and marks distance and loss values. Operators do not need in‑depth OTDR parameter expertise, significantly reducing training costs and user learning curve.

4. Fast Boot‑Up, Ideal for High‑Frequency Short‑Duration Tests

  • Ready to use immediately after power‑on, with single test time typically 15‑30 seconds. For inspection and troubleshooting scenarios requiring frequent "quick‑check" measurements, it is far more efficient than large benchtop or high‑precision OTDRs.

5. Long Battery Life, Suited for Field Operations

  • Built‑in high‑capacity Li‑ion battery supports 8+ hours of continuous testing or hundreds of single measurements per charge. USB‑C or power‑bank recharging capability meets full‑day field operation needs.

6. Touchscreen + Physical Buttons for Dual Operation

  • Combines intuitive touchscreen interaction with reliable physical button operation — buttons remain fully functional even when wearing gloves or in rain/snow conditions.

7. Convenient Data Management

  • Supports USB data transfer or Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi wireless export; test traces can be saved in standard SOR format, compatible with mainstream analysis software for easy report generation.
